Arrived at the Education for Marginalized Children in Kenya (EMACK) office this morning. Their project director, Farah, is fantastic: all business. We get right to the point: the drought is awful, we have to figure out the best time to sit and talk to people. “The situation is very, very bad,” Farah says, and it looks like we’ll be bringing food and water to the people we’re talking to in exchange for information. Understandable – there is no way that they would bother with interviews until their children are fed. My colleague has just walked in and burst into laughter: apparently my long dress and hidjab are not becoming.
and off.
Previous post: morning.
Next post: welcome to “forgotten kenya.”
