religion africa.

Texas in Africa‘s comments about Andrew Rice’s article on African religion in the U.S. reminds me of the power of the pulpit in Uganda. Politics are regularly discussed: religious leaders were key in pushing Northern Ugandans towards the revived concept of mato oput, a type of community justice, over the International Criminal Court. At the same time, these religious leaders have the power to divert people’s lives to the full financial and emotional support of the Church rather then their own development. See Rice’s excellent piece here.
