Blog Updates /

on listening, uganda talks and summer reading.

A few fantastic things.

First, Alex de Waal provides some great insight on the art of listening. As a journalist, this type of advice is invaluable.

Second of all, the Independent has a blog (thanks Joe)! The Independent is probably Uganda’s best publication (along with the Daily Monitor). Try this: is Museveni’s method for re-election to take down Mao?

Third, try some summer reading, “Waiting,” by Nigerian author EC Osondu, recent winner of the African Caine prize. For those who know little about the continent, pick up Martin Meredith’s the Fate of Africa and Richard Dowden’s new book, Africa: Altered States, Ordinary Miracles.

At the airport, waiting for take-off.
